The Society was founded ten years ago by Quentin and Ellen Burke with the assistance and encouragement of the late author’s son, Norman Hall Wright. Norman Wright was honorary president of the Society. He passed away in July, 2001. Their home is just six miles from the El Tecolote Rancho where the author wrote three of his novels (1910 to 1915). Any funds received by the Society now go towards maintenance of the Harold Bell Wright Gallery at the Imperial Valley Pioneers' Museum.
